All attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers at Ela Conf and throughout a mentorship are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout Ela Conf and for the duration of a mentorship. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.
We use an inclusive definition of “woman” and “female” and we welcome all of those with marginalized genders and identities.
The Ela Conf email is firstname.lastname@example.org. Relevant phone numbers will be shared before the conference and during the mentorship matching phase.
Ela Conf is dedicated to providing harassment-free experiences for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, or religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery are not appropriate for any event, including conferences, talks, workshops, parties, Twitter and other online media, throughout the duration of the conference and a mentorship. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from Ela Conf without a refund (when applicable) at the discretion of the group organizers.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
Sponsors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. At Ela Conf, sponsors (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise, create a sexualized environment.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from Ela Conf with no refund.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of staff immediately. Staff will be introduced on the site as well as before any event.
We will help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance and participation.
We expect participants, volunteers, mentors, and mentees to follow these rules at all Ela Conf events and programs, including workshops, social events, and throughout the duration of a mentorship relationship.
